How we see us
Produced over a month each spring, “ARé” features performance art with crossovers of some kind or another. Especially we play on the porosity of the boundary between performing arts and visual arts, experiment with original and unusual forms.
As the concept of “genre” becomes more unreliable and less interesting to creators, we expect more artists to nestle themselves in between different forms — not as an act of rebellion or critique, but simply because that’s the way we need to be confronted by art in the world today. These new forms expand the horizons of artists and audiences with work that is visionary, genre-bending, multi-disciplined, startling and original.
The festival showcases acclaimed international and local artists and mixes them together with an alchemy that inspires audiences, rejuvenates artists. “ARé” is a broker of international partnerships, a meeting place for creative minds, a showcase of Armenia’s best and an incubator of brilliant new work.
“ARé” performing arts festival is a one of national importance—artistically respected, greatly anticipated and highly valued as a catalyst for cultural and community development. It comes up with a new platform for people-to-people, artist-to-artist communication and contacts.
No understanding is possible without face-to-face communication and rubbing shoulders. “ARé” shows every opportunity for “living and acting together” for cross- border artists.
“ARé” performing arts festival is unique among the region’s festivals. This is a performance and hybrid art fest. Multidisciplinary and international in scope—the festival stands in its commitment to bring together critically acclaimed work from different disciplines under the umbrella of a single festival.
